From no name artist, to viral hip-hop sensation, to the opening act for one of the biggest stages in pop music, it has been an incredible journey for up and coming rapper Post Malone. Austin Post, better known as Post Malone, is an american rapper/songwriter, born and raised in Dallas, Texas and developed his love for a myriad of music at an early age. Becoming exposed to country music from his father is where he found his first love for music. From there he joined a heavy metal band in high school and taught himself to play the guitar via GuitarHero and Guitar Tabs, but it wasn’t until his cousin introduced him to rap music that he started to focus on his musical career in hip-hop. After releasing his single “White Iverson” on soundcloud in February 2015, his popularity skyrocketed and went from internet rapper to overnight celebrity.
After the success of White Inversion along with his other sings “Too Young” “Whats Up feat. 1st” and “Tear$,” Post Malone comes out swinging with his latest single “Go Flex.” witch premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio Show on April 20th, 2016. The song remains the same cloudy feel of his other hits, but is pretty heavy on the acoustic guitar, showcasing his country roots. This guitar addition as well as the country flavored stomp and clap percussion during the chorus gives a new organic flair to the track, in a world where sampled 808’s and plugin synthesizers are the norm. We had the opportunity to cut some of the vocals for the track at our Studio House location in West Hollywood. Post and the rest of his crew are some of the most humble people to work with. His Southern hospitality and easy-going nature made the writing and recording process a breeze.
Take a Listen to “Go Flex,” one of the many songs we recored with Post at the Studio house.
